Virginia School Plant Managers Association Conference 2010

VSPMAAbout VSPMA

A Message from the VSPMA President:

Dear Maintenance Professionals,

The Officers and Board Members of the Virginia School Plant Managers Association (VSPMA) have never missed an opportunity to take advantage of providing quality and value added training to the VSPMA members.  This past year, VSPMA coordinated several training and staff development opportunities:

  • The SchoolDude Survivor Tour, where we met with K12 School Facility professionals from across the state to share best practices
  • Lead Paint Renovation Training, provided by Froehling and Robertson
  • Custodial professional development classes
  • Integrated Pest Management Training (beginning this fall).

In addition, the information we share each month in our regional meetings has proven to be invaluable to large and small school divisions alike.

We realize that reduced operating budgets have had significant impact on our ability to continue to provide first class maintenance support to our schools.  That is one of the reasons why we have reduced the registration fee for this year’s VSPMA conference to less than one hundred dollars.  This fee includes your annual membership and covers the cost of six meals while at the conference.  In addition, we have negotiated excellent room rates, are offering more educational breakout sessions, and  this year for the first time, we will introduce the Hall of Resources, which will include a learning lab, sponsored by SchoolDude.

The theme of this year’s conference is CHALLENGING TIMES = GREAT OPPORTUNITIES.  As Facilities professionals, we are all facing challenging times.  So we need to share our best practices with each other to create opportunities to become even greater than we are now!  Each and every one of us has the opportunity to come away from the conference with new and innovative ideas to make the schools in the Commonwealth of Virginia the best there is!
I look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones at this year’s conference in Roanoke!

Wayne Kitchen,
VSPMA President
